Tell us about your role and your primary responsibilities.

I am a portfolio manager of 13 communities and handle community transitions

How did you first learn about Cardinal and how did that impact your desire to want to work here?

My father worked at Cardinal and told me that they were looking for part-time assistance. I worked part-time until they offered me a full-time position.

Cardinal is a family-oriented company, how does working here allow you to balance your career and family life?

Cardinal Management is very understanding when it comes to having to care for yourself/family, which provides a secure feeling that I do not have to choose between my family or my job.

What do you find most challenging about your role/position?

Learning to let go and not take things so personally.

How has Cardinal helped you with your career development and name three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

Cardinal Management developed my career. When I initially started working here, I had no idea what a community manager was, I knew nothing about this industry, and did not intend for it to be a long-term job/career. Once I started working here full-time, I enjoyed the energy and found the industry to be very interesting. I wanted to become more involved, and they were more than willing to teach me and help me grow into a portfolio manager.

The three biggest lessons I have learned so far:

1. Be honest and own up to your mistakes.

2. NEVER be afraid to ask for help.

3. Make sure to make time for yourself.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you and why?

Sandra Bullock. She is fun-loving and goofy but feisty when she needs to be. I love her!

Name one fun or unlikely thing people may not know about Cardinal but should.

Always be on your guard because we love to scare each other. Helps to ease the tension!

Do you have any tips for someone that may be looking to get into the community management industry?

Have thick skin, do not sweat the small stuff, and be able to let things go!
