Cardinal Management Group of Florida, Inc. Makes 2017 Top 100 “Florida’s Best Companies To Work For” List

Cardinal Management Group of Florida, Inc. was recently named one of Florida’s Best Companies To Work For, and the only company to receive the ranking in Naples.

The annual Best Companies list is featured in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. One-hundred companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.

To identify Florida’s best employers, Florida Trend partnered with the Best Companies Group, which surveyed firms that chose to participate. Any firm with at least 15 employees in Florida, including firms based outside the state, could participate at no cost. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings.

To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

The first part of the survey involved a questionnaire about company policies, practices and demographics. The second part went to a randomly selected group of each firm’s employees, who responded — anonymously — to 78 statements on a five-point agreement scale.

The survey also included two open-ended questions and seven demographic questions. The questions focused on eight themes: Leadership and planning; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training, development and resources; pay and benefits; and overall engagement.

“What’s clear from our list is that amenities like free lunch or a game room at the workplace are not the things that make a great workplace. Those amenities are just part of the way companies reflect their cultures — it’s the culture of the company and the company’s ability to hire people who understand and embody the culture that create a great workplace,” says Executive Editor of Florida Trend Mark Howard.

“The best companies obviously provide strong pay and benefits to their employees, but they also offer fun diversions such as ice cream socials, holiday parties and field days,” says Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty, “And these top companies encourage employees to participate in the organization’s overall success with training and open communications.”

FHA Backtraks on Fidelity Bonds

FHA released guidelines in June that included a mandate that professionally managed condominium associations compel their management companies to carry fidelity bonds in amounts equal to the associations’ budget and reserves. In addition, all condominium associations would be required to carry fidelity insurance to cover board members and association employees.
FHA representatives indicated in September that the agency would back off its requirement that management companies carry fidelity bonds. Instead, the FHA will allow associations to obtain policies that cover their management companies. FHA’s reversal will save management companies and homeowners money and allow more condominium associations to meet FHA mortgage requirements.
